Non-NHS Services & Fees

The NHS covers most healthcare services, but some requests fall outside its scope and require a fee. These include medical reports, certificates, private medicals, and private referral letters. Fees cover the administrative and professional time needed to complete these requests. Please see the table of fees below for more details.

Important: Important Payment Notice

Upon collection and payment of your completed request, document, or report, we kindly ask that you bring the exact amount in cash, as we are unable to provide change or process card payments. Thank you for your cooperation.

Important Notes

  • All report requests must include the patient’s consent to release information.

  • Fees are subject to change and depend on the complexity and time required.

  • Where costs vary, an estimate will be provided upon request.

  • Requests may take up to 28 working days to process.

Why Do GPs Charge Fees for Non-NHS Services?

GPs are self-employed professionals who must cover operational costs such as staff salaries, building maintenance, and utilities. While the NHS funds essential medical care, it does not cover administrative tasks related to non-NHS services. Fees help offset these costs and ensure continued service availability.

Payment of Fees

Fees payable by the patient must be paid upon collection of the completed work. Due to the administrative time involved, fees are non-refundable.

How You Can Help

  • Be Patient – Non-NHS work is processed outside regular NHS duties.

  • Provide Complete Information – Ensure all required details and consent forms are included to avoid delays.

  • Consider Alternatives – Some forms may not require a GP’s signature and could be signed by other professionals (e.g., teachers, accountants).

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in managing non-NHS services efficiently.
